Vivek Gole, Convenor of the Indian Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha’s 23rd constituency, has raised questions over the GTA Sabha meeting held at Lal Kothi, urging elected representatives to prioritise the political aspirations and future of the people over positions and power.
Gole stressed the need to pursue meaningful and time-bound discussions with the Central Government and other stakeholders on the demands for a separate Gorkhaland state and a Permanent Political Solution (PPS).
He also urged the elected GTA Sabha members to convene an all-party or all-stakeholder meeting and make their political position clear to the public. Gole questioned the apparent difference between some leaders’ past positions and their recent statements regarding running the GTA.
Underlining the importance of public aspirations, Gole said that no position or chair should be considered more important than the political future and rights of the people.
“People above the chair, people above the position,” he stated.
