Sikkim Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation and Yuksam-Tashiding MLA, Tshering T Bhutia, inspected the monsoon-damaged Tathang-Melli-Aching road under Yuksam-Tadhiding Today and took stock of the situation.
The road, which serves as an important connecting link to Melli-Aching GPU, has suffered extensive damage following torrential monsoon rainfall. A large portion of the road has been washed away by a landslide.
During the inspection, the Minister assessed the extent of damage and directed the concerned department to initiate restoration works at the earliest to facilitate the restoration of road connectivity.
The Minister was accompanied by OSD, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Mingma Lepcha, BDO, Yuksam, Sanman Subba, Zilla Panchayat Member Savitri Rai, Junior Engineer and Gram Panchayat members.
Later in the day, the Minister also visited several other public infrastructure sites in the area and reviewed the status.
