Governor Om Prakash Mathur Shares Border Experiences with Higher Command Course Officers

Governor of Sikkim, Om Prakash Mathur, attended a special programme organised at the Conference Hall of Lok Bhawan on Tuesday.

During the programme, a courtesy call and interactive session was organised with the Commandant of Army War College, Lieutenant General Ajay Chandpuriya and members of ‘Higher Command Course’ (military officers).

The group included military officers of Colonel rank.

Durung the programme, the Governor and Lieutenant General Ajay Chandpuriya presented each other with a memento.

During the session, the Governor had a detailed interaction with the military officers. He shared his personal experiences of his tours in the border areas of Sikkim.

During this period, several inquisitive questions were asked by the officials, which specifically discussed the geographical challenges faced by the soldiers deployed on the border and the issues related to the development of infrastructure and connectivity, as well as environmental conservation.

On a question related to the increasing tourism and the sensitive environment of Sikkim, the Governor said cleanliness and sensitivity towards the environment are embedded in the behavior of the people of Sikkim and the people here are fully aware of this.

The Commanders and military officials present in the programme expressed their gratitude to the Governor for continuously touring the border areas and boosting the morale of the soldiers deployed at the forward posts.
