Narayana RN Tagore Hospital, Kolkata has expanded its advanced Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) services to North Bengal with the launch of a specialised unit at Maxwell Hospital & Research Centre in Siliguri. The move is aimed at providing fast-track diagnosis, advanced treatment, and affordable cardiac rhythm care closer to patients across North Bengal and neighbouring regions.
The hospital said the new facility will offer integrated care for a wide range of heart rhythm disorders, including atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, slow heart rhythms, and syncope cases requiring pacemaker therapy. The centre will provide screening and diagnostic services such as ECG, treadmill testing, echocardiography, Holter monitoring, and genetic counselling for hereditary cardiac rhythm disorders.
Patients will also have access to advanced treatment procedures including radiofrequency ablation (RFA), pulse field ablation, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (AICD), cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), and pacemaker therapies. The programme will be supported by a multidisciplinary team of cardiac electrophysiologists, cardiologists, physicians, paediatricians, and allied healthcare professionals.
Dr Debabrata Bera said many cardiac electrophysiology disorders can be cured with early diagnosis and timely intervention. Group COO of Narayana Health R. Venkatesh said the initiative would improve access to quality cardiac care across North Bengal, while Abhijit CP said the goal was to establish Siliguri as a regional hub for comprehensive electrophysiology care.
The expansion could strengthen Siliguri as a growing medical destination for North Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Bihar, and neighbouring border regions. Improved access to advanced cardiac treatment is expected to reduce patient travel to metro cities like Kolkata while boosting the city’s healthcare economy and attracting further investment in specialised medical infrastructure.
