East Bengal Crowned ISL Champions, End 22-Year Wait for National Title

East Bengal has captured the champion’s title in the ISL (Indian Super League). With a victory in Thursday’s match of the 2025–26 Indian Super League season, East Bengal has successfully clinched a national competition title after a long hiatus of 22 years.
In a thrilling match held on Thursday, East Bengal defeated Inter Kashi by a margin of 2–1 goals to secure the champion’s title.
It is worth mentioning that prior to this, East Bengal had last won a national competition championship in the year 2004. In that year, the Kolkata-based club became the champions of the National Football League. However, since then, the team had been unable to become champions in any major tournament in India. Finally, ending a long 22-year wait, the historic club from Kolkata captured the Indian Super League title this time.
