Himalaya’s record campaign signals stronger ESG focus as company targets 5 million trees by 2030

Himalaya Wellness Company’s new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title, achieved with the participation of 66,928 doctors and healthcare practitioners, highlights the growing role of environmental sustainability in corporate strategy and stakeholder engagement.

The month-long initiative, launched on Doctors’ Day on July 1, surpassed the previous benchmark of 53,201 under the category “The Largest Online Photo Album of People Holding a Sign”. Participants submitted photographs carrying the message “United for Wellness, United for a Greener Tomorrow”, with entries reviewed and verified under GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ guidelines.

Beyond the record, the campaign strengthens Himalaya’s engagement with India’s medical community while aligning its environmental initiatives with its “Care for Life” philosophy. CFO and COO Jayashree Ullal said sustainability is embedded in the company’s long-term vision and highlighted its 97-year legacy of partnerships. Business Director–Healthcare Vikas Bansi said collective action by healthcare professionals could contribute to a healthier future, while Director–BabyCare Chakravarthi N.V. credited doctors and the company’s field force for the achievement.

Himalaya is targeting the planting of at least five million trees by 2030 and has already planted more than two million trees across ecologically significant regions. The company also works with NGOs, local communities and farming partners on biodiversity conservation, sustainable herb cultivation, vermicomposting and beekeeping.

The initiative comes amid rising economic and social concerns linked to climate change, with the WHO estimating 3.6 billion people live in highly climate-vulnerable areas.
