Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday, September 5, highlighted the important role of teachers in building a strong society and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to their welfare and professional growth on the occasion of Teachers’ Day.
In a social media post marking the day, Sarma said teachers play a fundamental role in shaping society and stressed the need to support them in carrying out their responsibilities effectively.
“Teachers lay the foundation of a strong society and I have always been a vocal supporter of their welfare and growth, despite facing many difficulties,” the Chief Minister said.
Sarma said his government would continue working towards improving the welfare of educators and creating conditions that would help them perform their duties better. He also emphasised the importance of empowering teachers so that they can contribute more effectively to the education and development of students.
“Today, on #TeachersDay, we reiterate our commitment towards their welfare and empowering them to teach better,” he said.
The Chief Minister’s message came as Teachers’ Day was observed across the country on September 5. The day is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and a noted educationist.
Teachers’ Day is an occasion to recognise the contribution of teachers to education and society. In his message, Sarma placed particular emphasis on their welfare and growth, linking the well-being and professional development of educators with their ability to perform their role effectively.
