Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched a new Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) centre at Siliguri Institute of Technology as part of its CSR-led initiative to strengthen skill development and build a future-ready workforce for India’s automotive sector. The newly launched centre in Siliguri will train 180 students annually across Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science trades. The year-long programme is designed for final-year ITI and diploma students and combines classroom learning with practical exposure through on-the-job training at authorised Toyota dealerships.
The launch ceremony was attended by Shri Satyam Roy Chowdhury, Founder and Managing Director of Techno India Group, Mr Joydeep Guha, Director of Techno India Group, Dr Anindya Basu, Principal of Siliguri Institute of Technology, and senior officials from Toyota Kirloskar Motor. Under the initiative, Toyota will provide service skills training, structured learning materials and specialised Body & Mind modules focusing on discipline, teamwork and workplace readiness. The programme is aligned with the Government of India’s Skill India Mission.
Commenting on the initiative, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Executive Vice President Vikram Gulati said the programme would help create meaningful opportunities for students and support the automotive industry with skilled professionals. Siliguri is witnessing growing demand for technically skilled manpower as the region expands as a commercial and logistics hub connecting Northeast India, North Bengal and neighbouring countries. Industry observers believe initiatives like T-TEP could support local employment generation and strengthen the region’s automobile service ecosystem. Toyota said its T-TEP programme, launched in 2006, has trained over 14,000 students across India, with more than 70 per cent of graduates securing employment in the automobile sector.
