On the sidelines of the Nepali Indigenous Film Festival, the Sikkim delegation led by Minister for Culture and Health, G. T. Dhungel, undertook an exposure visit to the British Museum in London.
The visit provided the delegation an opportunity to learn about international practices in the preservation, documentation, conservation and presentation of cultural heritage.
The delegation explored the Museum’s diverse collections and gained insights into the role of museums and archives in safeguarding history and cultural identity for future generations.
The visit was particularly relevant to Sikkim’s ongoing efforts towards documenting and preserving its rich cultural heritage, traditions, historical records and indigenous knowledge.
The delegation included Chairman of the Sikkim Film Board, Tashi Tshering Bhutia, Chairman of the Sikkim Art, Culture and Heritage Development Board, Sanjay Dilpali Rai, and board member, Thupden Rinzing Bhutia.
