[4:33 pm, 13/4/2026] kang: After waiting for a decade India’s parliamentary system is progressing towards another chapter in its history. The implementation of the Women Reservation Bill will take place from 16 to 18 April, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi determined as a special session.
“Nari Shakti Bandhan Sammelan” was attended by Modi at Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan where he indicated that this initiative will be historic for 21st century India.
There are also two amendments planned by the government designed to empower more women significantly; the first is the 2023 Nari Shakti Bandhan Bill, which amends how the population of women will be defined and calculates the amount of women eligible for ballot box reservations, and second is implementing it, which is set to be complete prior to elections in 2029 using census data from 2011 – which is greatly impacting the timeline.
[4:34 pm, 13/4/2026] kang: According to the Prime Minister, the Parliament is on the brink of creating a new history by making past ideas a reality and fulfilling future resolutions. The Prime Minister cites how successfully executing the Jal Jeevan Mission will enhance the competency and dignity of women in key positions throughout the nation. Women are the driving force behind the entire system at the grassroots level and thus will help make the system more responsive.
Through the introduction of schemes such as Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Mission Indradhanush and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the Government has been working towards providing protection for women at all stages of life, from birth to attaining financial independence. In this special session, the Government intends to design and finalize a bill through discussion and cooperation among all members.
