27,381 Sq Ft food & fun zone opens near Guwahati station under non-fare revenue scheme

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) inaugurated a new passenger amenity hub, ‘The Terminal’, near Guwahati Railway Station on the evening of 23rd October, offering food, shopping and entertainment under one roof.

The facility was inaugurated by NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Srivastava, in the presence of Principal Chief Commercial Manager Neeraj Sahay and Lumding Divisional Railway Manager Sameer Lohani. It has been developed in the old Passenger Reservation System (PRS) building area on Station Road at Paltan Bazar.

‘The Terminal’ will provide rail passengers, families and other visitors a convenient space for dining, relaxation and leisure. According to NFR CPRO Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, the project has been implemented by Lumding Division under the innovative Non-Fare Revenue scheme, converting a previously underutilized railway asset into an attractive commercial and entertainment centre.

Spread over 27,381 sq ft, the operation of the facility has been awarded to ‘Fusion Edge Solution’ for five years at a contract value of Rs 2.27 crore. It features a food zone with national and international fast-food brands, a flea market with local handicrafts, souvenirs and retail products, and an indoor soft play area for children.

The hub has been designed with dedicated seating, themed lighting, aesthetically decorated open spaces and planned interiors to create a welcoming and comfortable environment. Adequate measures for safety, cleanliness, fire safety and overall security have also been ensured as per railway standards.
