Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Ltd. has expanded its monsoon healthcare outreach in West Bengal after recording an over eightfold increase in Home Healthcare utilisation for fever and infectious diseases during FY25-26, reflecting rising demand for accessible healthcare services amid the seasonal spike in dengue, malaria and other infections.
The health insurer said it is strengthening customer access through its “Talk to Star” helpline and free 24/7 Virtual OPD consultations, positioning digital and home-based healthcare as key growth areas. Policyholders can call 7200 222 333 to access guided support for Home Healthcare and planned hospitalisation, while non-policyholders can book free virtual consultations through the Star Health Customer app.
Business Head Atin Roy said the company is focusing on enabling early medical intervention, adding that easier access to doctors can help families manage seasonal illnesses before symptoms worsen. Star Health said eligible policyholders can avail unlimited teleconsultations during the policy period and cashless Home Healthcare, including doctor-prescribed nursing care, diagnostic tests, IV fluids and injections at home. The company cited the National Statistical Office’s 80th Round Survey, which estimated average private hospitalisation costs at ₹57,964 in rural West Bengal and ₹82,348 in urban areas, underscoring the need for affordable healthcare alternatives. Star Health said the initiative aims to reduce treatment delays, improve customer engagement and strengthen its healthcare delivery ecosystem during the monsoon season, while expanding adoption of digital health services across the state.
