Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang Golay has launched the CM-SAATHI (SATHEE) Initiative, a landmark education programme designed to support students preparing for national-level competitive examinations, at Samman Bhawan virtually on Thursday.
Implemented in collaboration with IIT Kanpur under the Government of India’s SATHEE Initiative, CM-SAATHI will provide free, high-quality coaching and academic support for JEE and NEET aspirants across Sikkim.
The programme offers expert video lectures, comprehensive study materials, mock tests, practice questions, doubt-resolution support, and technology-enabled learning resources, ensuring that quality coaching reaches students in their homes and schools, irrespective of their financial background.
More than 2,000 students from over 40 government and private schools across Sikkim are expected to benefit from the initiative. In addition to supporting students, the programme will strengthen the professional capabilities of Science and Mathematics teachers through academic collaboration and capacity-building with IIT Kanpur.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also urged the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and IIT Kanpur to explore the possibility of extending similar academic support to students preparing for other national-level competitive examinations, including CUET, CLAT, NDA, UPSC Foundation, and other entrance examinations, thereby broadening opportunities for students across diverse academic streams.
During his address, the Chief Minister encouraged them to dream big, remain disciplined, and make full use of the opportunities provided through CM-SAATHI. He also called upon school principals, teachers, and parents to continue guiding and motivating students in their pursuit of academic excellence.
