Hyundai Domestic Sales Jump 23% to 54,210 Units as Record Exports Lift Total Volumes to All-Time High

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) reported a 23.3 percent year-on-year surge in domestic sales for July 2026, dispatching 54,210 units compared to 43,958 units in the same month last year. The performance represents the automaker’s highest-ever domestic volume for the month of July. Coupled with a 31.4 percent increase in exports to 21,150 units—the company’s highest monthly export volume in over 100 months—Hyundai recorded its highest-ever total monthly sales since inception, reaching 75,360 units (up 25.4 percent overall). The robust growth momentum was primarily anchored by core SUV demand, led by the Creta recording its highest monthly sales of the calendar year at 18,088 units, while the premium i20 hatchback also registered a calendar-year high of 6,738 units.

Managing Director and CEO Tarun Garg attributed the performance to a strong start in the second quarter of the fiscal year, highlighting solid domestic customer confidence and expanding overseas shipments under the “Make-in-India, Made-for-the-World” strategy. The sharp uptick in July also signals a swift recovery in supply chain throughput following minor vendor-related production bottlenecks in June. While Hyundai continues to face fierce competition from domestic automakers like Mahindra and Tata Motors in overall passenger vehicle volumes, its balanced distribution across domestic SUV demand and a surging global export footprint continues to solidify its market positioning as India’s second-largest passenger vehicle seller.
