Eden Realty bets on Kolkata’s western shore with 700-acre riverfront vision

Eden Realty has unveiled Kolkata Westshore, a 38-acre mixed-use waterfront development at Shalimar in Howrah, positioning it as the anchor of a broader vision to transform nearly 700 acres of adjoining riverfront land into a major urban and economic district.

The larger waterfront canvas includes land associated with the Botanical Garden, IIEST Shibpur, Kolkata Port Trust and Indian Railways, combining green, institutional, port and railway assets along the Hooghly.

Kolkata Westshore will feature luxury housing, retail, hospitality and public waterfront spaces. The project includes the nine-acre Eden Devprayag luxury residential development, with towers rising up to 28 floors and 270-degree river views, and the nine-acre Solaris Shalimar sustainable residential phase. Future plans include a 14-acre zone for retail, education, hospitality and lifestyle amenities, besides a six-acre hospitality zone with a proposed 100-key five-star hotel.

The project is expected to benefit from infrastructure upgrades, including the operational East-West Metro, expanded ferry services, the proposed Water Metro and the upcoming 7.2-km elevated Kona Expressway corridor.

Eden Realty Chairman SachchidanandRai said the western shore represents Kolkata’s “next natural frontier”, while Managing Director Arya Sumant said the development could help shape the city’s next major economic and urban chapter.
