The trophies display ceremony for the Guwahati edition of the 135th Durand Cup will be held on July 16.
During the ceremony, the three legacy trophies of Durand Cup will be showcased at Hotel Vivanta, Guwahati to the football enthusiasts.
Thereafter, on the same day and next day (July 16 and 17) Durand Cup Trophies Tour will be conducted in Guwahati at Assam Legislative Assembly (July 16), Brahmaputra River Heritage Centre (July 16), IIT Guwahati (July 17) and City Centre Mall (July 17).
This august moment will be graced by Biswajit Daimary, Minister of Sports & Youth Welfare, Govt of Assam, Kausar Jamil Hilaly, Special Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Govt of Assam, Major General Dinesh Kumar Singh, Vice Chairman Durand Cup Organising Committee (Kolkata), Major General Amit Dhir, Chief Of Staff Gajraj Corps, Brigadier Anupam Sharma, Commander Tamulpur Brigade and Ankur Bharali, Director Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Govt of Assam.
The Durand Cup, the oldest football tournament of Asia and third oldest tournament of world, will be conducted this year in five venues, viz. Kolkata, Guwahati, Shillong, Imphal and Ranchi.
The tournament is being conducted in Assam for the fifth consecutive time since 2022.
Indian Armed Forces along with support of the Assam government will host this elite tournament at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Sarusajai, Guwahati. A total of six Group F matches will be conducted from August 1 to 13 at IGA Stadium Guwahati, which will feature teams of Group F — NorthEast United FC, Bodoland FC, Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC and FC 1 Club.
