Following the election-related violence in Samaguri, Nagaon on Monday, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has formally written to the Additional Director General of Police, Special Branch, Assam Police, requesting that all necessary security arrangements be made for All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who is currently visiting Assam.
Senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel, who is in charge of Assam affairs, was engaged in party activities at Lahorighat in Morigaon today and will spend the night in Guwahati.
Thereafter, tomorrow at 9 am, he will leave Khanapara for Morigaon. At 11 am, he will reach the Morigaon District Congress Office, where he will hold an important meeting with party workers.
Meanwhile, at 1 pm, Baghel will participate in another meeting with party workers at the Jagiroad Congress office.
After completing all scheduled party programmes, the newly appointed AICC General Secretary in charge of Assam will leave Morigaon for Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati, at 4 tomorrow and will fly to New Delhi at 7 pm.
