Birla Fertility & IVF, Siliguri, has completed two years of operations, highlighting its focus on personalised treatment for couples facing primary and secondary infertility, including complex fertility challenges.
The centre treats conditions such as male-factor infertility, diminished ovarian reserve, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), tubal factors and previous treatment failures. Its services include self-cycle IVF, diagnostic hysteroscopy, sperm DNA fragmentation testing, microfluidics and platelet-rich plasma (PRP)-based fertility interventions.
In a recent case, a 31-year-old woman and her 35-year-old husband, who had been trying to conceive for six years, underwent IVF after investigations identified male-factor infertility, low anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels and left hydrosalpinx. Following laparoscopic surgery, an embryo transfer resulted in a positive pregnancy test. The woman is now in her third month of pregnancy, with fetal cardiac activity confirmed.
Dr Angana De, fertility specialist and centre head, said coordinated evaluation, counselling and treatment planning were essential in addressing multiple factors affecting conception.
In Siliguri, the centre’s anniversary highlights the role of specialised fertility services in expanding access to reproductive healthcare in the region. Awareness initiatives, including free infertility camps and sessions for CRPF personnel, also aim to encourage timely consultation and improve understanding of infertility.
