Assam Rifles withdrawn from keycheck point in Manipur

Over past three months, Manipur residence has been facing community clashes between the Meitei and Kuki tribes. Due to which Assam Rifles was deployed to control the violence situation.

According to the recent updates, numerous women activists across different locations demonstrated protest, wherein they accused the central paramilitary force of using excessive force against civilians in the valley districts.

Following the protest, On Monday Director General of Police issued an order, announcing the immediate withdrawal Assam Rifles with CRPF units at the checkpoint situated along the Bishnupur-Kangvai Road, Manipur.

The notice said, “In partial modification of this office’s order dated August 3, 2023, the naka/check point at Moirang Lamkhai on the Bishnupur to Kangvai Road shall be manned by civil police and CRPF in place of 9 Assam Rifles with immediate effect and until further orders”.
