Assam Police have seized 69 ATM/debit cards, 63 bank passbooks and digital evidence during a raid at No. 1 Tupamari village in Kamrup district in connection with suspected online gaming and chip-selling activities.
Acting on credible information, a police team raided the residence of Rafiqul Islam, son of Mubark Ali. The operation was led by Boko-Chaygaon Co-District Superintendent of Police (CDSP) Jankishore Gogoi, APS, along with Tupamari Police Outpost In-Charge Champak Kalita, Nagarbera Police Station Officer-in-Charge Harjit Das and other police personnel.
During the search, police recovered a mobile phone containing the ChipSeller application. According to police, the application carried details of gaming chip purchases and sales as well as earnings. The application showed total earnings of Rs 3,87,499, police said.
Investigators also found Chip Seller.apk and base.apk files on the device. WhatsApp and Telegram conversations allegedly linked to chip transactions, payments and payout accounts were also recovered. Police further seized UPI details, payment-related information and QR codes from the device.
Among the major recoveries were 69 ATM/debit cards belonging to different individuals and 63 bank passbooks belonging to different persons. Of the passbooks seized, 58 were from the Bank of India, police said.
The digital and financial material has now been taken up for examination as investigators seek to trace the flow of money, assess the scale of the suspected online gaming activity and identify other people who may be connected with the alleged network.
Police said the investigation would proceed on the basis of the digital and financial evidence recovered during the operation. The authorities are examining the transactions and account details to establish the nature of the suspected activities and the wider financial links, if any.
The Tupamari raid is part of a series of operations being conducted by the Boko-Chaygaon police against suspected illegal activities in the area. Under the leadership of CDSP Jankishore Gogoi, police teams have earlier carried out coordinated anti-narcotics operations across several police station areas, including Nagarbera, Goroimari, Sonatoli Police Outpost, Chaygaon, Mandira Police Outpost and Samaria Police Outpost.
Those operations resulted in the arrest of several people in connection with suspected drug-related activities.
