Redmi 17 5G Launching in India on September 3 With 7,900mAh Battery and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5

Redmi has officially confirmed the India launch date of the Redmi 17 5G, putting an end to the speculation surrounding the smartphone. The device will launch in India on September 3, with the company already teasing it through a dedicated microsite.

For Indian consumers, however, there is one notable difference compared to the global model. The India-specific Redmi 17 5G will feature a larger 7,900mAh battery, compared to the 7,500mAh unit offered with the international version.

The smartphone will be available for purchase through Amazon and will be offered in three colour options — Absolutely Black, Endless Blue and Eternal Orange. Redmi has already showcased the Indian variant on its microsite, and the design appears to remain unchanged from the global model.

The company is yet to reveal all the details about the phone. Redmi has confirmed that additional information will be announced on September 2, just a day ahead of the official India launch.

Under the hood, the Redmi 17 5G will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset. The octa-core processor will be paired with a 6.9-inch flat display that supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

The large battery is expected to be one of the phone’s biggest highlights. The 7,900mAh battery will support 45W wired charging, while the handset will also offer 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing users to charge other compatible devices.

For photography, the Redmi 17 5G will feature a dual-camera setup on the rear. The primary camera will use a 50-megapixel sensor, while Redmi has not yet revealed details about the secondary sensor. An LED flash will also be placed alongside the rear cameras.

On the front, the smartphone will feature an 8-megapixel selfie camera housed inside a hole-punch cutout. The 6.9-inch flat display will support a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

The Redmi 17 5G is not a completely new smartphone, as the device was already launched in select global markets on August 10. Its global pricing starts at MYR 769, which is approximately Rs. 18,000, for the base variant with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage.

Apart from the battery capacity, Redmi has confirmed that the Indian and global versions will offer the same specifications and features. As a result, the larger 7,900mAh battery is likely to be one of the biggest talking points when the Redmi 17 5G officially arrives in India next week.
