In an official statement, a company spokesperson categorized the claims as “entirely baseless and factually incorrect,” clarifying that the flagship firm is not evaluating any proposal to establish an airline venture. The clarification follows media reports claiming that major airport operators had approached the central government to seek easing of privatisation-era cross-ownership rules—regulations that currently cap Delhi and Mumbai airport operators from holding more than a 10% stake in scheduled carriers. Concerns over potential conflicts of interest were also highlighted by existing aviation leaders, including IndiGo, regarding airport operators managing competing airlines.
