Vijay is concluding his 30-year acting career with a highly anticipated film, Jana Naayagan, which has just released after a seven-month delay. The film has garnered immense hype, achieving record advance bookings and strong opening performances, especially in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka, with houseful shows indicating one of the best starts in Tamil film history. Jana Nayagan earned ₹13.33 crore by 1 PM, with strong initial reception in Tamil Nadu, where morning shows had over 73% occupancy. However, the Hindi and Telugu versions performed poorly, generating only ₹32 lakh and ₹56 lakh respectively, indicating limited pan-India appeal despite the film’s success in Tamil.
Jana Nayagan is projected to earn over ₹50 crore on its opening day, joining only a few Tamil films like Leo and Coolie in this achievement. While it may not surpass these films, it is expected to outperform other major titles like Beast and GOAT. Initially planned for a January release, the film faced delays due to CBFC certification issues. The cast features Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol, with music by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography by Sathyan Sooryan.
