Assam will soon have seven dedicated spaces in New Delhi for people visiting the national capital.
“Alongside the existing Assam House, three new complexes are coming up in Central Delhi and Dwarka, with one featuring a Naamghar and Convention Hall,” Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in New Delhi on Sunday while outlining the state government’s expansive efforts to support the people of the state nationwide.
“By the end of this year, the reconstructed Assam House will be ready, and will be used for government work. Construction of the third Assam Bhawan in Dwarka, along with a Karbi Bhawan and a Dimasa Bhawan is underway. These facilities will be opened by Durga Puja. A Barak Bhawan is also in the pipeline,” he said.
Describing Assam Bhawans a home away from home for the people of the state, he said, “From Delhi and Bengaluru to Kolkata and Mumbai, we are upgrading our Assam Houses to provide better facilities for the people of Assam across the country.”
The Chief Minister inspected the site earmarked for the proposed Assam Cultural-cum-Convention Centre and Naamghar at Dwarka Sector 17 and reviewed the progress of the new Assam House at Dwarka Sector 13.
Sarma also inspected the plot for the redeveloped Assam Bhawan on Sardar Patel Marg, with the facilities set to be inaugurated on or before Durga Puja this year.
