Flipkart has expanded its Ekart supply chain ahead of The Big Billion Days and the festive season, adding 14 million cubic feet of warehousing capacity and extending its network to more than 750 new PIN codes, including Leh, Kargil and underserved communities across the Northeast.
The expansion has increased Ekart’s storage capacity by 50%, while technology and automation upgrades have raised peak processing capacity by more than 30%. Over 900 additional delivery hubs have also been added, taking the company’s network to more than 8,200 facilities, alongside nearly 1,200 Flipkart Minutes micro-fulfilment centres across 150-plus cities.
To support MSMEs, weavers, artisans and small sellers, more than 2.5 crore products have been pre-positioned at fulfilment centres, while 70 additional pick-up stations have been opened. Ekart’s 3PL franchise network has doubled to 600 within two months.
In Siliguri, the expansion is expected to support festive demand across North Bengal and neighbouring Northeast markets by strengthening last-mile connectivity and enabling faster movement of products through the region’s strategic trade and logistics hub. The wider network could also provide greater access for local sellers and MSMEs to customers beyond their immediate markets.
Flipkart said more than 2.5 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities will be created during the festive season, including nearly 75,000 for first-time workforce entrants.
