At the Asian Games on Friday, Indian shooters Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet bounced back in style from their disappointing individual outings by producing an excellent performance to fire their way to the gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, where they topped the qualification with a total of 587 points including 29 inner 10s and then dominated the final by shooting 484.6 to finish 6.6 points ahead of South Korea’s silver-winning pair of Suhyeon Hong and Gaeun Choo while Iran bagged the bronze with 415.8, marking India’s final and successful medal chance in the 10m air pistol category after Kamaljeet had earlier finished ninth and Suruchi 26th in the individual qualifications; shortly after, the Indian men’s 50m rifle 3 positions team comprising Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Rudrankksh Patil, and Niraj Kumar claimed the silver medal by logging a total of 1762 points behind gold-winning China with 1766 and bronze-winning Korea with 1751, with Tomar scoring 589 and Niraj scoring 588 to successfully qualify for the individual 3P final in third and fourth places respectively, while Rudrankksh missed out on the individual final despite his strong contribution because tournament rules permit only two shooters from a single country to enter the individual medal rounds.
