Three persons — Gautam Roy, Hiren Haloi and Bithin Roy Choudhury — have been detained by Garchuk Police in connection with the incident.According to the allegations, the incident took place after a disagreement over Moran’s work schedule at the resort. It has been alleged that Moran was asked to report for duty on his scheduled day off. Ajit Kuli of the Takam Mising Porin Kébang (TMPK), who spoke to the media regarding the incident, expressed concern over the alleged assault and said such cases involving Assamese and indigenous people needed to be addressed seriously.“Why are we Assamese people being beaten up everywhere? Most recently in Arunachal Pradesh, then two days back in Meghalaya, and now again here, where an indigenous youth has been beaten so badly after being confined inside a room at a resort,” Kuli said.According to Kuli, members of TMPK went to Garchuk Police Station after learning that Moran had been taken there following the incident.Kuli further claimed that they later came to know that a complaint had also been lodged against Moran in connection with the same incident.According to the complaint against Moran, he allegedly damaged property at the resort during the altercation. The police are examining this allegation along with the complaint regarding the alleged confinement and assault.

The case has drawn attention from members of TMPK, who have raised concerns over the alleged treatment of Moran. However, the sequence of events leading to the confrontation and the specific roles of those involved are yet to be fully established. With three persons currently detained, Garchuk Police are continuing their investigation and are expected to gather further details from those involved and other relevant persons.Further information on the alleged assault, the property damage complaint and the events that led to the dispute is expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
