AI Memory Boom Drives Record Samsung Q2 Earnings Amid Market Volatility

Samsung Electronics reported a dramatic surge in its second-quarter financial results, powered by intense global demand for artificial intelligence memory chips. The South Korean technology giant saw its net profit for the June quarter jump to 71.62 trillion won ($49.2 billion), while operating profit rose more than 19-fold year-on-year to 89.49 trillion won. Consolidated revenue climbed to a record high of 171.49 trillion won, driven by aggressive server chip procurement for AI data centers and sharp price increases across high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and DRAM product lines.

The semiconductor unit anchored the company’s stellar performance, effectively offsetting cost pressures and softer margins in its consumer electronics and mobile divisions. Looking ahead to the second half of the year, Samsung expects tight supply conditions to persist as global tech firms continue expanding AI infrastructure spending. Nevertheless, company shares faced fluctuations in South Korean trading as investors weighed high capital expenditure plans, intensifying competition from regional producers, and broader market anxiety over whether the memory supercycle is near its peak.

To sustain momentum, Samsung is prioritizing high-margin memory components and expanding strategic supply partnerships. The conglomerate remains committed to massive long-term investments in advanced manufacturing facilities to secure its market leadership throughout the ongoing AI transition.
