Cotton University and biodiversity conservation organisation Aaranyak have entered into a five-year partnership aimed at strengthening academic collaboration and research in the fields of biodiversity conservation, climate change, environmental governance, disaster risk reduction and sustainable development.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Monday by Cotton University Registrar Dr. Hiren Deka and Aaranyak Secretary General Dr. Bibhab Kumar Talukdar in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ramesh Chandra Deka.
The collaboration seeks to promote interdisciplinary research through joint projects, student internships, faculty and researcher exchange programmes, skill development initiatives, collaborative publications, and knowledge-sharing events such as seminars and workshops.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dean of Research and Development Prof. Santanu Sarma, Dean of Students’ Welfare Prof. Eeshan Kalita, Dr. Narayan Sharma of the Department of Environmental Biology and Wildlife Sciences, and Aaranyak Directors Dr. Partha Jyoti Das and Udayan Borthakur.
The partnership is expected to create new opportunities for students, researchers and faculty members while encouraging scientific innovation and practical solutions to environmental challenges facing the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Aaranyak Secretary General Dr. Bibhab Kumar Talukdar said the collaboration would pave the way for meaningful research and conservation initiatives.
“We are grateful to the leadership of Cotton University for making this partnership possible. The collaboration will strengthen applied research and conservation efforts while creating valuable learning opportunities for students and researchers,” he said.
