Generali Central Life Insurance has strengthened its commitment to Sikkim through the donation of two fully equipped life-support ambulances to Sir ThutobNamgyal (STNM) Hospital, Gangtok, reinforcing its role as the lead insurer in the state and its focus on community well-being beyond insurance.
The advanced ambulances, equipped with life-support systems, are expected to enhance emergency response capabilities and facilitate faster patient transfers across Gangtok and surrounding areas, particularly in Sikkim’s remote and hilly regions where access to timely healthcare remains a challenge.
Since becoming the lead insurer for Sikkim in 2022, the company has focused on expanding insurance awareness, improving financial literacy and increasing insurance penetration across urban and rural communities. The ambulance initiative reflects its broader strategy of supporting critical social infrastructure while advancing long-term financial protection.
The company also organised a blood donation camp at STNM Hospital, which witnessed active community participation.
Speaking on the initiative, Managing Director and CEO AlokRungta said the company remains committed to being a “Lifetime Partner” by supporting communities during critical moments and strengthening access to healthcare and financial security. State Health Minister G.T. Dhungel and Finance Director MahendraPradhan welcomed the initiative, describing it as a significant contribution to healthcare infrastructure and Sikkim’s goal of achieving “Insurance for All” by 2027.
Generali Central Life said it has extended insurance coverage to more than 6,500 lives in Sikkim as of May 31, 2026, through partnerships with the Government of Sikkim, NABARD, state police, Gram Panchayats and other institutions. The company continues to drive awareness through grassroots campaigns, community outreach programmes and local distribution networks across the state.
