Manipal has launched the advanced TrueBeam radiotherapy technology at its Comprehensive Cancer Care Centre in Rangapani, marking a major step in strengthening precision cancer care infrastructure in North Bengal and neighbouring regions.
The launch event was attended by Chief Guest RaghavanandaMaharaj from Ramkrishna Vedanta Ashram along with senior doctors including Dr. SwapnenduBasu, Senior Consultant and Advisor-Radiation Oncology, Dr. Manish Goswami, Clinical Director and Consultant Head and Neck Surgical Oncology, Dr. SouravGuha, Consultant-Radiation Oncology, and Hospital Director Sanjay SinghaMahapatra.
The next-generation TrueBeam system offers highly targeted radiation therapy using real-time imaging and motion management capabilities. The platform supports advanced techniques such as Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), aimed at improving treatment precision, reducing side effects and shortening treatment duration.
Dr. Basu said cancer cases related to lung, breast, head and neck, and gastrointestinal diseases have increased steadily across North Bengal and parts of the Northeast, forcing many patients to travel to metro cities for advanced treatment. He said the new facility would help improve accessibility to precision-led oncology care closer to home.
In Siliguri, the launch is expected to strengthen the city’s growing healthcare economy and position Siliguri as a major medical destination for patients from North Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Bhutan and the Northeast. Industry observers believe advanced oncology investments could drive further growth in private healthcare, medical tourism and allied healthcare services in the region.
Hospital Director Sanjay SinghaMahapatra said the initiative reflects Manipal Hospitals’ commitment to expanding world-class oncology care access across Eastern India.
