Youths attack shop in Siliguri over ‘Aloo Biryani’ controversy

Siliguri, Oct 15: In an unusual incident, a dispute over ‘aloo biryani’ led to a ruckus and a shop was allegedly attacked near NTS More in Siliguri on Monday night. The entire incident was captured on CCTV.
According to reports, a group of youths, including one Gopal Roy, arrived at a biryani shop late Monday night. The dispute started when they asked the shopkeeper for ‘Aloo Biryani’, which the shopkeeper said was not available in the shop. The youths allegedly started abusing the staff.
To calm the situation, the shop owner intervened and agreed to serve them aloo biryani. However, tensions flared up again when the price was fixed at Rs 80, leading to another argument. The youths are accused of attacking the shop staff following the altercation.
On Tuesday, the shop owner lodged a formal complaint against the youths at the Siliguri police station. Officials have begun investigating the incident.
