Kharibari, June 01: A youth named Mukul Roy, resident of Gaursingh Jot, Panitanki, has been arrested for possessing 35 grams of morphine in Panitanki, Kharibari.
Reportedly, acting on a tip-off, personnel of the 41st battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) detained Roy at Prasadu Jote turn near Panitanki on Friday. During the search, they recovered 35 grams of morphine from Roy, leading to his immediate arrest. Later the SSB jawans handed over the accused to Kharibari police station.
Roy was produced in Siliguri court on Saturday. Police sources revealed that Roy was earlier arrested by the Khoribari police on drug-related charges. At present the police is thoroughly investigating the incident.
