Weapons smuggling uncovered in Manipur

An operation was carried out in Manipur by Assam Rifles in collaboration with local police of the state to detect weapon smuggling since the violence hit on Monday.

According to the sources, the operation was carried out in the Loiching range of Kangpokpi, Manipur in which the authorities have successfully caught a cache of illegal weapons and war-related supplies.

The illegal weapons that were smuggled into that state included an AK-56 rifle with two magazines, a single-shot barrel rifle, a Chinese grenade, a mortar round, 100 rounds of AK-56 ammunition, and seven fired cases from a single-shot barrel rifle.
