This collaborative effort seeks to uplift the lives of tea garden workers by addressing a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of their well-being: vision. By providing eyeglasses to agricultural laborers and artisans, the initiative not only enhances their ability to work effectively but also fosters a sense of dignity and inclusivity within the community. Through this partnership, Vision 2020, India CSR, and Catalyst 2030 demonstrate their commitment to driving sustainable change and promoting social welfare at the grassroots level.
At the event, VisionSpring forged key partnerships with industry titans such as the Indian Tea Association, Luxmi Tea Company Private Limited, and Tea Promoters India. These collaborations will spearhead the screening of 50,000 tea garden workers’ vision, promising a brighter future for the workforce. The Livelihoods in Focus campaign, projected to unlock over Rs. 300 Crore in income-earning potential, highlights VisionSpring’s commitment to enhancing productivity through clear vision.
Studies have shown that providing eyeglasses can amplify productivity by up to 21.7%, particularly among seasoned workers.Narayanan Kumar, VisionSpring India’s Board Chair, emphasized the campaign’s profound impact on tea garden workers’ livelihoods, affirming clear vision as a cornerstone of productivity and dignity. Mr. Harkirat Singh Sidhu of Rainforest Alliance lauded the initiative’s potential to catalyze transformative change, heralding a brighter, more productive future for the tea industry.
