Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) has accelerated its network infrastructure development by adding over 100,000 towers in six months of FY24-25, reflecting robust investment in India’s digital economy. This rapid expansion supports the growing demand for high-speed connectivity, essential for driving economic productivity and digital inclusion across urban and semi-urban regions. Vi’s strategic deployment spans enhancements in both 4G and 5G networks, with 5G services launched in Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Patna, and imminent rollouts planned in Delhi and Bangalore. Upgrades across the 900 MHz to 2300 MHz spectrum bands have broadened coverage, now reaching over 1.07 billion people, improving data speeds and service reliability critical for business continuity and consumer engagement.
The launch of Vi’s “Netties” campaign, featuring animated tower avatars styled as a cricket team, leverages IPL enthusiasm to boost brand equity and consumer connection amid intense telecom market competition. The enhanced network infrastructure is poised to catalyze local economic growth by enabling better digital access for enterprises and consumers alike. Improved connectivity will facilitate e-commerce, education, and service delivery, contributing to Shillong’s integration into India’s broader digital economy.
Vi’s Chief Marketing Officer, Avneesh Khosla, emphasized the network’s strategic expansion focused on high-traffic zones, positioning Vi for sustained economic impact and future-ready service delivery.
