Vodafone Idea (Vi) has strengthened its digital entertainment offering by integrating Amazon MX Player into its Vi Movies & TV app, expanding its free content library for users across India. The move comes as the country witnesses a surge in OTT consumption, with over 547 million users, nearly 400–447 million of whom rely on free, ad-supported platforms.
With this partnership, Vi Movies & TV users will gain free access to Amazon MX Player’s diverse catalogue, including award-winning web series, international shows, blockbuster films, and regional content. Alongside this, Vi continues to offer 400+ live TV channels, news streaming, and free first-episode viewing of Z5 Originals, broadening entertainment options without subscription costs.
Guwahati, one of the fastest-growing digital consumption hubs in the Northeast, stands to benefit significantly. With younger audiences increasingly shifting to smartphones for affordable entertainment, Vi’s expanded free library could drive deeper engagement and strengthen its presence in Assam’s urban clusters, where demand for regional cinema and dubbed international series is growing rapidly. Vi subscribers with paid plans will also enjoy access to up to 17 OTT platforms, including JioHotstar, Sony LIV, Lionsgate Play, and Sun NXT. The service is available across smartphones, smart TVs, and web browsers, providing a one-stop digital entertainment solution for India’s diverse audiences.
