Vi Business unveils MSME study 2025; 76% small businesses prioritise cybersecurity investments

Marking World MSME Day, Vi Business unveiled the third edition of its Ready for Next MSME Growth Insights Study 2025, revealing significant digital adoption trends across the sector. India’s Digital Maturity Index (DMI) climbed from 56.6 in 2023 to 58.0 in 2025, with 76% of MSMEs planning increased investments in cybersecurity and 72% in cloud technology.

The study, certified by Cyber Media Research, analyzed data from over two lakh MSMEs across 15,000 pin codes. Telangana led with a DMI of 71.2, followed by Kerala (63.7) and Maharashtra (59.2). Sectorally, Financial Services (66), Transportation (62), and Retail (62) showed the highest maturity levels. However, only 12% of MSMEs are fully digitalized, signaling fragmented adoption.

MSMEs are cautiously yet steadily embracing digital tools. Retailers and logistics operators are prioritizing cloud-based systems and cybersecurity as they expand operations and customer engagement capabilities across Northeast corridors. Budget constraints persist, but digital awareness is high, especially among mid-size players.
