US Midwest Hit by Early Snowstorm, Disrupting Travel

An early-season snowstorm has blanketed parts of the US Midwest, disrupting travel and causing widespread power outages. The states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan reported heavy snowfall, with some regions seeing up to 20 centimeters of snow overnight.

Hundreds of flights were delayed or canceled at major airports including Chicago O’Hare and Minneapolis-St. Paul. The National Weather Service warned of slippery roads and advised residents to avoid non-essential travel.

Meteorologists attributed the early snowfall to a clash between cold Arctic air and lingering warm moisture from the south. Local authorities are working to clear roads, while power companies are restoring electricity to more than 100,000 affected homes.
