The UK government is moving toward a total ban on disposable vapes by 2026, citing rising use among teenagers and environmental damage caused by improper disposal.
Health Secretary Victoria Atkins said the law, which is being drafted now, will primarily target flavoured e-cigarettes with colourful packaging that appeals to minors. Schools and parents’ groups have welcomed the move, pointing to a 75% increase in under-18 vape use in just two years.
Public health groups in India and Bangladesh are observing this closely. Both countries are considering revising their vape regulations, particularly after seizures of unlicensed e-cigarettes in cities like Kolkata and Dhaka.
