Tragedy at Sea: Zubeen Garg’s Last Moments Captured Before Fatal Scuba Dive

Zubeen Garg, an Assamese singer, died at the age of 52 after a scuba diving accident in Singapore. A video of him donning a life jacket just before the tragedy has gone viral online.

A day after Assamese singer Zubeen Garg died in Singapore, a video of him wearing a life jacket before the accident went viral. The 52-year-old was scuba diving when the deadly event happened.

The footage published by India Today NE depicts Garg’s final moments before his untimely demise. In the video, the singer is seen fixing a life jacket before jumping into the sea for a few swims.

Garg, who was supposed to play at the North East Festival on Saturday, became ill on a marine outing. Despite being rescued and transported to intensive care, physicians were unable to save him.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sympathies for the Assamese artist’s death on X, writing, “Shocked by the tragic loss of famous singer Zubeen Garg. He will be recognized for his significant contributions to music (sic).
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted his shock at the unfortunate tragedy. He wrote, “Today, Assam lost one of its most cherished sons. I am at a loss for words to express what Zubeen means to Assam. He died too soon; this was not the appropriate age.”

Vishal Dadlani, a music composer, shared his anguish in an X post, writing, “I can’t believe this. My brain is in shock, and my heart is devastated! #ZubeenGarg has left a vacuum that I don’t believe anyone else can ever fill. He was a true megastar, a man of his people, a true Assamese lover, and he was adored by fans to such an extent that their agony now is indescribable. My heartfelt sympathies to his family and everyone affected by this larger-than-life legend. If anyone truly lived Rock & Roll, it was Zubeen.

Zubeen Garg was praised for elevating Assamese music to national prominence, achieving pan-India success with ‘Ya Ali’ from ‘Gangster’ (2006), one of Bollywood’s most popular singles at the moment.
