Rajganj, Oct 02: A grand traditional ‘Banyan Tree Marriage’ ceremony was organised in Rajganj on the occasion of Mahalaya.
Like every year, local resident Manik Roy took the initiative to organise the event at the Mahendranath Roy crematorium at Damdema in Majhiali gram panchayat of Rajganj block.
The ceremony, held during the new moon, included various wedding rituals, celebrating the symbolic union of two banyan trees at the cremation ground. People from all religions were invited to attend.
On this occasion, special Khichdi Prasad was prepared and distributed to all the people present. Along with this, new clothes and 101 mosquito nets were also distributed in view of Durga Puja.
