In a bid to champion environmental consciousness and advocate for a greener future, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has launched its ‘Toyota Environment Month’ coinciding with the World Environment Day. Dedicated to nurturing eco-awareness, TKM’s month-long initiative throughout June 2024 aims to align with the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050 (TEC 2050), under the theme “Unite for Responsible Resource Consumption Towards Becoming Global No.1”.Embracing the United Nations Environment Programme’s call for action on Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience, TKM sets forth a multifaceted approach. With a focus on water management and ecosystem revival, the company endeavors to amplify environmental stewardship.
Over the years, TKM has transitioned into a mobility company with a steadfast commitment to sustainable practices. Central to this commitment is the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050, encompassing six environmental challenges aimed at achieving carbon neutrality and fostering a future society in harmony with nature.TKM’s strides in water conservation and ecosystem restoration stand as a testament to its dedication. The company has achieved significant milestones including a notable rise in groundwater levels and rainwater harvesting initiatives, meeting 95% of its water requirements through recycling and harvesting.
Furthermore, TKM’s reforestation efforts, employing the Miyawaki concept, have seen the planting of over 328,000 trees within its premises. Complementing these endeavors is the establishment of the ‘Ecozone’, an educational hub promoting nature conservation and sustainability.Mr. B.
