In the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) presented Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) with the CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2022. The release of Toyota’s six aspirational global environmental challenges in 2015 strengthened the company’s eco-efforts in the direction of environmental sustainability. This includes achieving “Carbon Neutrality by 2050” and “Net Zero Carbon in Manufacturing Operations” by 2035, which are Toyota’s two main goals.
In order to encourage an eco-mind among its staff, TKM follows the Learn, Perform, and Drive methodology. Employees participate in eco-activities including plant planting, land cleanup, creating bird nests out of throwaway bottles, and reaching out to more than 59,000 individuals through the company’s employee volunteer programme, i-CARE. By maximising natural resources and doing business in accordance with the environment, Toyota is dedicated to achieving harmony between its production activities and the environment.
The CII-ITC Sustainability Awards recognize and reward businesses that strive to be more sustainable and inclusive. TKM has been recognized for its efforts to conserve the environment and develop a future society in harmony with nature, under its three key verticals– Green Wave Project, Education for Sustainable Development, and Today for Tomorrow Project. Mr. Raju B. Ketkale said “Our focus extends beyond being an automobile manufacturer; we strive to become a responsible mobility company that actively contributes to safeguarding our planet. This award showcases our various eco-initiatives and contributions towards creating a harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.”
