A series of thefts in the Jaleswari Bazar area near the Eastern Bypass has raised alarm among local traders in Siliguri. In the past two days, multiple shops have reportedly fallen victim to theft. One such incident occurred early Friday when thieves broke into a car accessories shop near the Bypass and stole air conditioner wiring. Just two days before, the same shop was targeted, with electrical wiring being taken.
In response to these recurring thefts, the shop owner filed a written complaint at the Ashighar Outpost. Residents stated that the issue extends beyond commercial establishments, as a house nearby was also burgled recently. Locals believe that thieves are systematically targeting shops in the area, leading to growing concerns over security.
They have urged police to increase night patrols to prevent further incidents. In the meantime, authorities have initiated an investigation into the thefts to identify and apprehend those responsible.
