Even though a prohibitory order was still in effect in the targeted area on Saturday, the situation in Howrah town, which saw skirmishes between two factions during a Ram Navami procession, is calm and under control, a police officer said.
Markets and shops opened as traffic began to circulate in the morning amidst a significant police presence in the Kazipara area.
CID detectives took over the investigations into the confrontations, the officer added, gathering samples and speaking with locals as well as police officers stationed there during the clash on Thursday.
