Tesla has finally arrived in India with the launch of its first dealership in Mumbai. The 4,000-square-foot facility is the first phase of the electric vehicle giant’s long-awaited entry into the Indian market. It is located in the city’s core, within the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). This flagship store, sometimes called a Tesla Experience Center, is expected to be followed by other facilities in major cities, such as New Delhi. Given the waning demand in its present markets, Tesla is taking this measure in an effort to explore new growth markets. The Tesla showroom is located in BKC, one of Mumbai’s most expensive commercial districts. The shop reportedly pays Rs 35 lakh a month in rent.
This will be the company’s first experience center and the American EV manufacturer’s first physical location in India. Although Elon Musk has not yet revealed intentions for a production or assembly plant in India, the showroom’s debut is seen as a strategic move to assess consumer demand and market potential. The Model Y, Tesla’s all-electric SUV, is presently on exhibit in the showroom. Six Model Y SUVs have been brought from Shanghai to Mumbai for the launch. The final pre-launch elements, such as the car being transported into the store on a flatbed truck, are seen in social media photos.
