Supreme Court upholds to end of special status for Kashmir

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2019 has decided to strip disputed Jammu and Kashmir’s special status as a semi-autonomous region as the decision was necessary for the moment and temporary.

Due to which the regions were separated to two federal territories, Ladakh and Jammu-Kashmir, both ruled directly by the central government without a legislature of their own.

Further, the government has promised to restore Jammu-Kashmir’s statehood as soon as possible. Additionally, Ladakh will remain a federal territory.
