On Friday, British actor Tom Holland sustained a mild concussion while filming the upcoming Marvel film ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ in the United Kingdom. As a precaution, Holland took a several-day vacation from filming after suffering a minor injury. No additional people were injured in the incident.
Holland suffered a mild concussion on Friday during filming an action sequence for the film. The actor will leave the scene for a few days to recover. The exact cause of the injury is unknown, however no other cast or crew members were injured.
Despite his injuries, Holland appeared in public on Saturday, holding a charity event in London for The Brothers Trust with his fiance and co-star Zendaya at Christie’s auction house.
‘Brand New Day’ is a critical project for Sony and Marvel Studios, as it marks the fourth installment in the Spider-Man franchise, starring Holland. The previous picture, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, was a box office hit, and the studios have great hopes for this one.
The film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, departs from the previous three Spider-Man films, which were directed by Jon Watts. Holland reprises his role alongside Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, as well as newcomers Sadie Sink and Tramell Tillman. Mark Ruffalo and Jon Bernthal are also expected to reprise their Marvel roles.
Last month, Sony released footage of Holland’s first day back on set in his new Spider-Man costume. In the video, Holland said, “It’s day one, my fourth day one on ‘Spider-Man’.” It’s funny how putting on the outfit feels different this time. It’s also the first time we’ve had fans on set since day one, so we’re quite excited to share this with them. We have some familiar faces on set. I’m just going to do my best and hopefully get it right; no pressure.”
‘Brand New Day’ began production in Glasgow in early August and is set to hit theatres on July 31, 2026. The status of production is expected to be revealed following the impending meeting between Sony and Marvel Studios.
