Speculation is over, David left the Mohammedan club and signed in red and yellow

Mohammedan won back-to-back matches last season. David Lalhlansanga also made it to the Indian team. This season, he signed for Emami East Bengal. Speculations of David’s move to the red-yellow began earlier this year. That speculation came true on Tuesday.

David became the top scorer in the Kolkata Football League and the Durand Cup. He also played a big role in the I-League victory for Mohammedan. On signing for East Bengal, David said, “East Bengal is a very big club. There are many supporters across India. I love playing in front of such an audience. On the Indian team, I spent time with Mahesh, Nanda, and Lalchungnunga. They helped me a lot. I want to give my best for East Bengal.”

Red-yellow coach Carles Kuadrat said, “We were trying to get David for a long time. Durand’s performance in the Kolkata League caught our attention. That’s when we decided to bring David into the team. We are happy to have such a footballer on the team.”

David was born in Mizoram. I played for Aizawl FC on the youth team. He made it to Aizawl’s senior team for the first time in the 2019–20 season. After playing there for three years, he signed for Mohammedan in 2023. 22-year-old David Durand scored six goals in three matches. won the golden boot. He scored 21 goals in the Kolkata League. Scored five goals in the I-League.

Emami’s Bivas Vardhan Agarwal said about David in the team, “David is very talented. In the coming days, he can secure his place on the Indian team. I hope it will be successful for us too.”
